Back on Track

Hello everyone! It has been a while since I have written a decent post on our blog; I have only been posting homework assignments, and for that I apologize. Originally I wanted this blog to be a space where I could share interesting articles, ideas, and other sites, links, music, movies etc with you. So to help get back on track I wanted to share this cool site that came across my desk the other day called, "What Middle School Students Wish You Knew." Take a look at see what you can relate top and what you agree with.

Please leave a comment, in the comment section of this post, so I can see who is still reading this blog, and also, so I can get a sense of whether or not you agree with the types of comments those kids have made.  Cut and paste the items you agree with most. Give specific examples. Don't just say, "yeah, I agree with it." Are there any other things that you feel your teachers should know? How can we help make school more engaging for you? How can we help you learn better?

  2. There are lots of things that relate to me on that website as a student but I quite agree with this one's:

    "Having teachers that care."
Time to talk, relax, and have fun
"...a teacher that is easy to relate to"
"...a teacher that is open minded and cool"
A good atmosphere "...a cozy room where you can work, but are still comfortable." and so on..

There loads more and most of these things are done quite well in our school. I also quite like the website, very easy to understand.

  4. I agree with most of them but when I was reading them the last one really got my attention, because it doesn't really make sense. Here it is: "Boys, cause you can't live with them but you can't live without them." Its funny because it makes me think alot.

  6. I think that I agree with most of what the students say, like "...a teacher that is easy to relate to" so that the teacher understands studens better, and also A good atmosphere "...a cozy room where you can work, but are still comfortable." so that it's easy to concentrate and not get distracted, and "...not too easy but not too complicated either.", because teachers either give too easy or too hard work. I also agree with the student that said "The teacher explains things by using examples so it's easier to understand.", because if the teacher gives examples, then it's easier for students to have an idea of what they're supposed to do.

  7. The one about ' If I didn't have friends I would hate school' really got my attention. Because that is so true and I hope will be something I never have to go through.

'Staying out of trouble' is something I ALWAYS mess up on just before reports come out! Don't know why...

I'm sorry to say the one that said 'I need attention' really hit me. Its something I really like as well

  8. Marissa and Hassan both provided thoughtful comments. Thanks for sharing your feelings. As teachers, we try to engage students with examples to help make concepts clearer.
