  1. The Domesday Book is the record of the great survey of England completed in 1086, executed for William I of England, or William the Conqueror. While spending the Christmas of 1085 in Gloucester, William "had deep speech with his counsellors and sent men all over England to each shire to find out what or how much each landholder had in land and livestock, and what it was worth

  2. 1. William sent his men to visit every shire in whole England, he told them to record what or how much each landholder had in land and livestock and they did, they wrote it down in a book called the Domesday Book, William used the book to see who should pay what in taxes. If someone had lots of land he would pay more in taxes and oppisite and on that way William get it all in system and controlled England.

    2. A peasent in that time would not be respected by other people, the peasent would get no medical attention and no food, but if he got any food it would sertainly not be enough or healthy, sometimes a peasent maybe had to wear the same clothe for weeks because the peasent would not have enough money to nuy new fancy stuff. The only money a peasent would have would be money he had worked hard and all day long for and if the peasent finally would get some money the king would take them in taxes. A peasent would live in very bad facilities.

  6. The domesday book was created so William the conquerer would know how much England was really worth and how much tax everybody had to pay. It was named the domesday book after doomsday, the day of judgment. They surveyed 13,000 villages twice and took a year to complete. Soldiers would come threatening to kill whoever was lying.
